Happiness

Hey guys! I know what your thinking ‘Gosh! Doesn’t this chick have anything better to do then blog?’ No. No I don’t. So… Anyway this piece, which I’ve titled Happiness, is… super… mega…….. awesome? Well, maybe not awesome or ‘super mega’ but I like it. What’s better then happy cats, Garfield and Care Bears? Nothing.
I finished this piece all in one day (I’m not sure why that matters) about a month ago. As soon as I finished it I didn’t like it so I stopped looking at it. I pulled it out of the Closet Of Shame today and you know what? I like it. So here I am, blogging about it. Enjoy! Comments and critiques are always welcome!

Hello friends! I finally finished a painting! *gasp* I know! It’s been forever! I’ve been stuck in a creative rut but I’ve finally managed to rock myself back and fourth enough to struggle out of said rut… Weird metaphor, right? I don’t really know how to get out of a rut but in movies (which are always a super reliable resource for rut-getting-out-of, right?) they rock their cars back and forth to get enough momentum… Anyway, I’m out! (of the… Rut…) Ok enough metaphors! I finally finished a painting!!! Whoot! Whoot! (I totally just did ‘the sprinkler’…. It was really cool)
This piece took about three weeks, I’m not loving it but I finished it. What do you guys think, pretty sucky right? Critiques welcome and appreciated 🙂

Frankenstein, Carrie, Raphael, and a bat.

I had so much fun working on this piece! It has been such a long time sense I have lost myself in a painting. I feel like a kid again, which is the point of this painting. When I was a kid I would spend hours and hours painting. Sometimes I would forget to eat or I would fall asleep with a paint brush in my hand.
This painting was pretty straight forward except the background. I was having a hard time figuring out how to keep the background separate form the foreground (visually). That’s when it hit me, gauche! I can lay down opaque color for the background and transparent layers for the foreground. I feel like this really worked. Well anyway, it’s finished! Enjoy!
